Our position

Taidou is a small professional services firm headquartered in Plano, Texas, with people working from Chicago, Boston, Albuquerque, London and Manila. Our direct environmental footprint is modest and comes almost entirely from two things: the travel our engagements require and the offices and equipment our people use. Our indirect influence is much larger, because the programmes we help clients run touch capital allocation, infrastructure, operations and reporting in sectors where the environmental decisions are real.

This page sets out what we do about both. It makes no claim we cannot substantiate. We do not publish a net-zero date, a percentage reduction or a certification badge, because we have not yet measured our footprint to a standard that would make any of those honest. What follows is what we actually do, what we will start measuring, and where we think we can make a difference that is bigger than our own emissions.

How we operate

Remote by default. Taidou was built as a distributed firm. Our consultants work from where they live and travel when an engagement genuinely requires presence — a kick-off, a steering committee, a workshop that will not work over video — rather than as a matter of routine. That single choice removes most of the travel a conventional consulting model generates.

Travel we can defend. Before anyone flies, the question is whether the meeting changes if they are in the room. If the answer is no, they are not in the room. When travel is necessary we prefer one longer visit over several short ones, and rail over air where the journey allows it.

Digital deliverables. We do not print reports, decks or working papers. Our deliverables are built to be read on screen, shared as files, and maintained by the client after we leave, which is also better practice for the work itself.

Equipment and offices. We buy hardware to last, repair before we replace, and recycle through certified channels when equipment reaches end of life. Our office footprint is small and shared, and we choose spaces with efficient building systems where we have the choice.

What we will measure

Starting with our 2026 financial year we are recording business travel by mode and distance, and the energy use we can attribute to our office space. From that we will calculate a first, deliberately conservative estimate of our operational emissions using published conversion factors, and we will publish it here with the method, the assumptions and what is excluded. It will be an estimate, and we will say so.

We are not buying offsets to net that figure to zero. If we ever do purchase offsets or removals we will report them separately from reductions, so that a reader can tell what we changed from what we paid for.

Where we can help clients most

Several of our practices touch sustainability substantively, and that is where our influence is largest.

Energy and Utilities & Renewables. Capital programme delivery, grid and generation transition, and the governance that keeps a multi-year infrastructure programme on its date. A programme that lands two years late is a programme whose environmental benefit lands two years late.

Regulatory, Risk & Forensic. Helping clients understand what non-financial disclosure regimes require of them, build the data and controls to report accurately, and avoid the exposure that comes with claims they cannot support. We do not provide attest or assurance opinions on sustainability reports; we help clients get ready for the people who do.

Transformation Consulting and Project Management. Operating model and delivery work that reduces waste in the ordinary sense — fewer duplicated systems, fewer abandoned initiatives, less rework. Efficiency is not a sustainability programme, but inefficiency has a footprint.

Government & Public Services. Programme and policy delivery where environmental outcomes are part of the mandate, and where the public is entitled to see whether the money produced the result.

People and conduct

Sustainability for a professional services firm is mostly about people. Taidou LLC is an equal opportunity employer. We pay suppliers on time, including the small firms and independent specialists we work alongside. We do not take engagements whose purpose is to help a client obscure an environmental or safety obligation, and we will say so to a prospective client rather than decline quietly.

What we will not do

Publish figures we have not measured. Present offsets as reductions. Describe a normal professional services operation as a sustainability programme. Put a badge on this page that we paid for rather than earned. If any of the above changes, the change will be visible here, with a date.
